My Stay at The Fairmont Hotel in Tangier, Morocco

My Stay at The Fairmont Hotel in Tangier, Morocco

(AD – PR STAY)

Hey my friends!

So as you may have seen, I was away last week in Tangier, Morocco, in a beautiful new resort called ‘The Fairmont Tazi Palace’ in Tangier, which recently opened and was perfect for a 4 day break. Being just over two hours for the flight (I know, who knew it was SO quick?!) from London, it truly felt like such a perfect destination to escape to for a dreamy holiday without the hefty travel time.

Secluded high on the hills above the medina, Fairmont Tazi Palace in Tangier mirrors the cityโ€™s charm and is one of the finest 5-star hotels in Morocco. The views were absolutely incredible, you really have to see them to believe just how stunning there are. There were lots of historic features throughout which had been restored to their original 1920s glory, so even though its a new resort, it definitely had some prominent, traditional touches.

With Andalusian-style gardens, and a flowing layout, this hotel really made you feel like royalty with the high quality finish throughout, yet still being super homely. Some of the hotel rooms look out over the forested hillside, while others have views over the Old City and you can see the mountains on the horizon. Many of the mosaics and textiles we were told, were also made locally by local artisans, which was a really lovely way to incorporate their authentic crafts for tourists to appreciate.

At the resort there’s also seven restaurants and three bars, a stunning in-hotel spa and outdoor pool, local experiences that you can book to get a real taste of the local culture and sights, as well as kids club and activities. They even offer a pottery class, which I would have LOVED to have done if I have a bit more time. There’s a rooftop terrace and also a speakeasy bar, called Origin, where the bartenders are incredible and will make you literally any drink you fancy.

As always after my trips, I love to shout about when the hotel staff have been amazing – which they definitely were here! All so attentive, helpful and friendly, making you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. Our room and the rest of the hotel were SPOTLESS, everything was so clean and well-maintained, which is something I think anyone finds really important when you go away.

You might worry about the fact that there isn’t a beach nearby to the resort, which I totally get, is often a ‘must’ on holiday. However, I will wholeheartedly say I don’t think really even noticed the fact we didn’t have a beach day. There was SO many places to hang out by the pool, around the hotel, gorgeous scenery to take in of the landscape, that yes it’s a little different, but not lacking in any way. Just appreciating what is true to the area! There was plenty for the kids to do, but overall beautiful weather, views and plenty of activities to enjoy and have to do during your stay.

ALL ABOUT CRUDO – One of my favourite hotel restaurants:

Crudo, WOW! Where we ate for breakfast, as well as some of our dinners. They have amazing variety for breakfast, an omlette station, absolutely anything else you could fancy. They use a lot of local produce, serve their homemade granola and even jam made with fruits from the hotel gardens. But of course, I had to dive into their pastries, which are AMAZING, (you all know I’m a hard judge when it comes to pastries).

All the food in general on their different menus, that we tried throughout our stay, was 10/10. If you visit Crudo at dinner, definitely try the pizza’s, as they have a fresh pizza oven and also the halloumi dish is to die for!

Cuisine wise, a Mediterranean feel is reflected in every plate, with a ‘farm-to-table’ ethos, meaning all ingredients are super fresh and local where possible, but also curated into beautiful looking and tasting dishes. At lunch and dinner, the menu draws influences from Italy, Spain, Greece and France. Locally sourced fish and seafood is the shining star, the catch of the day arriving fresh from the port to the plate.

Some of my must try faves from the menu

  • Halloumi, with Sambuca, Dukkah and Honey
  • Truffle Pizza
  • Dorade Royale (to share)
  • Ananas (from the dessert menu)

Overall, I had an amazing break away and found this the perfect escape that wasn’t too far away, to unwind, relax and feel at total ease with plenty around to indulge in and make the for the perfect stay.

It’s the perfect hotel break and holiday if you’re looking for sophisticated vibe, which also has local Moroccan culture for you to experience and enjoy. With good food at every meal, activities to enjoy doing but still add to the relaxation and amazing views from all angles, this is the perfect mini-break without too much fuss involved!

Until next time,

M. Xx
